Ralph Ineson

Ralph Ineson will always be Chris Finch from the UK Office to me. Finchy's smug confidence and his effect on David Brent make him memorable without needing much screen time. Ineson gives him the sort of certainty that makes an ordinary office conversation immediately uncomfortable.

Born in Leeds, Ineson has a deep Yorkshire voice that is just as recognisable in a thriller as in a comedy. In Absentia, he plays FBI agent Adam Radford alongside Stana Katic and Patrick Heusinger. It is a very different setting from Wernham Hogg, but he is unmistakable.

His television roles also include Dagmer Cleftjaw in Game of Thrones, General Nikolai Tarakanov in Chernobyl and Connor Nutley in Peaky Blinders. He appears in Spooks as Sam Walker, in Sherlock as Vince, and in Foundation as Archduke Bellarion.

On film, he plays William in Robert Eggers' The Witch, the title character in The Green Knight and Amycus Carrow in the Harry Potter series. His voice work includes documentary narration for Salvage Hunters and the Hunter in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Those parts cover a considerable distance from Finch, though Finch is still the performance I think of first.
