Amy Adams

Amy Adams is an American actress whose work includes Enchanted, The Fighter and the television thriller Sharp Objects. Those roles cover very different ground: a fairy-tale heroine, a woman dealing with a difficult boxing family, and reporter Camille Preaker returning to a troubled home town. Her career has moved between comedy, fantasy and demanding dramatic parts without settling into one type of character.

In Cape Fear, she plays Anna Bowden, a lawyer whose family comes under threat after Max Cady leaves prison. She is also an executive producer of the series. The role places her opposite Javier Bardem and Patrick Wilson in a story where professional judgement and private fear are difficult to separate.

Earlier television appearances include Katy in the American Office and Cathy in The West Wing. They are smaller credits than her later leading roles, but useful reminders of the television work that preceded them.
