Javier Bardem

Javier Bardem is a Spanish actor whose international film career includes Before Night Falls, The Sea Inside, No Country for Old Men and Skyfall. He won the Academy Award for supporting actor for his performance as Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men. That role, and his later appearance as Silva in Skyfall, made him particularly recognisable in English-language thrillers.

His work extends well beyond antagonists. Before Night Falls casts him as writer Reinaldo Arenas, while The Sea Inside centres on Ramón Sampedro. Both give him leading roles very different from the threatening figures for which many viewers know him.

In the 2026 Cape Fear, Bardem plays Max Cady, a former prisoner intent on confronting the lawyers who helped put him away. He takes on the role Robert De Niro played in the 1991 film, this time opposite Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson as Anna and Tom Bowden.
