About Ciarán Hinds
Ciarán Hinds plays Julius Caesar in Rome. The performance does not need constant demonstrations of grandeur. Hinds makes Caesar appear accustomed to weighing people and opportunities, with a calm that can be more unsettling than anger.
His television work includes Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones, Sir John Franklin in The Terror and Eamon Cunningham in Kin. His films include Munich, There Will Be Blood, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Belfast, which brought him an Oscar nomination.
Hinds has also worked extensively on stage. That command of language is useful in Rome, but so is his willingness to leave space around a line. He gives the impression of somebody who can afford to wait for the other person to reveal a little more.
