Salvatore Esposito

Salvatore Esposito is best known here as Gennaro “Genny” Savastano in Gomorrah. His physical presence is immediately recognisable, but the performance also depends on the way he listens, measures a room and reacts to the expectations attached to his family name.

In Fargo, he plays Gaetano Fadda in the fourth season's Kansas City story. The role lets him be more openly confrontational and larger in his gestures than the tightly contained moments that often make Gomorrah compelling. It is a welcome change of register rather than a repeat appearance in a different suit.

The Naples-born actor's other film work includes They Call Me Jeeg and The Immortal. For viewers moving between Italian crime drama and English-language television, Fargo is an enjoyable meeting point: Esposito brings a familiar intensity to a show with its own much stranger sense of humour.
