Francesco Acquaroli

Francesco Acquaroli plays Ebal Violante in the fourth season of Fargo. His reserved manner is a useful contrast to the louder personalities around him. He can make waiting for someone to finish speaking look like a deliberate choice.

Viewers of Suburra: Blood on Rome will recognise him as Samurai. There, too, he gives authority a patient quality: the character does not need to fill every silence to remain the centre of a conversation. The two roles belong to different worlds, but both make good use of his watchfulness.

Acquaroli is a Roman actor with a career across theatre, film and television. Fargo brings that experience into an American period crime story without making him merely a familiar face in the background. His scenes offer a quieter counterweight to the fourth season's more demonstrative performances.
