Edie Falco

About Edie Falco
Edie Falco plays Carmela Soprano in The Sopranos. Carmela can recognise a problem with extraordinary clarity and still find a way to live alongside it. Falco makes that contradiction feel personal rather than theoretical. Her arguments with James Gandolfini's Tony carry years of familiarity, and she is just as good when Carmela is trying to persuade herself.
Falco also played Diane Whittlesey in Oz, led Nurse Jackie, and appeared as Sylvia in Horace and Pete and Nina Hobbs in Mayor of Kingstown. She won three lead-actress Emmys for The Sopranos. It is difficult to imagine the show's domestic life being remotely as convincing without her.
