About Drea de Matteo
Drea de Matteo plays Adriana La Cerva in The Sopranos. Adriana's enthusiasm and affection matter enormously in a series full of people who treat those qualities as weaknesses. De Matteo gives her an immediate openness without pretending she exists outside the world around her.
She won the 2004 supporting-actress Emmy for the role. Her television work also includes Wendy Case in Sons of Anarchy, Gina in Joey and Angie Bolen in Desperate Housewives. In The Sopranos, her scenes with Michael Imperioli make Christopher and Adriana feel like a particular, difficult couple rather than a convenient subplot. It is a performance whose warmth makes a strong impression.
