Kevin McKidd

Kevin McKidd plays Lucius Vorenus in Rome. His military discipline is convincing, but the performance becomes particularly interesting when Vorenus tries to apply that certainty to domestic life. McKidd gives him pride and decency without concealing how difficult he can be.

The Scottish actor first reached a wide film audience as Tommy in Trainspotting. His other films include Dog Soldiers and Kingdom of Heaven. On television he led Journeyman as Dan Vasser and became widely known as Owen Hunt in Grey's Anatomy, where he has also directed episodes.

His partnership with Ray Stevenson is central to Rome. McKidd's restraint gives Stevenson's expansiveness something useful to push against, and their disagreements make the friendship more persuasive rather than less.
