Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood plays Dolores Abernathy in Westworld. Her performance makes the park's repetitions feel subtly different: a familiar smile or answer can carry a trace of doubt without announcing what it means. That precision is essential to the first season's appeal.

Wood had already built a substantial career before Dolores, including Thirteen, Across the Universe, The Wrestler and the television adaptation of Mildred Pierce. In True Blood, she plays Sophie-Anne Leclerq, a very different presence from the rancher's daughter we first meet in Westworld. She also supplies the voice of Queen Iduna in Frozen II.

What makes her particularly effective in Westworld is the balance between accessibility and reserve. Dolores needs to feel like a person worth following while remaining part of a world whose rules are still being discovered.
