Wendell Pierce

Wendell Pierce plays Bunk Moreland in The Wire. Bunk's humour is one of the show's great pleasures, but Pierce keeps the working detective underneath it. A joke does not erase the seriousness with which he approaches a case.

Pierce also plays trombonist Antoine Batiste in Treme, lawyer Robert Zane in Suits, and James Greer in Jack Ryan. His stage work includes Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman.

The ease of his scenes with Dominic West is particularly valuable. They give the impression of people with a long history of working together, including a detailed knowledge of one another's failings. Pierce can let Bunk enjoy McNulty's company without becoming blind to what makes him difficult.
