Viktoriya Isakova

Viktoriya Isakova plays Anna in To the Lake. Anna's place in Sergey's new household is already complicated before the epidemic; travelling with his former family does not make it simpler. Isakova gives her enough warmth and resolve to be more than one side of a domestic argument.

Her film work includes The Island and The Student, alongside a substantial career in Russian theatre and television. What I like about her contribution here is the attention to small reactions. The danger outside is enormous, but Anna still has to read the people beside her, protect her son and decide whom she can trust. Isakova keeps those immediate concerns convincing.
