American actor of Coptic Egyptian heritage, born in California. Played PFC Merriell "Snafu" Shelton in The Pacific, later winning the Emmy for Mr. Robot and the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.
