Natalie Dormer

Natalie Dormer plays Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones. Her charm has purpose: she makes courtesy feel like an active choice, and a pleasant conversation can leave you wondering who has gained the advantage.

Dormer previously played Anne Boleyn in The Tudors, another role involving the dangers and opportunities of proximity to power. Her film work includes Cressida in the Hunger Games: Mockingjay films and In Darkness, which she co-wrote.

On television she has also appeared in Picnic at Hanging Rock and Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. The latter is a separate series from the original Penny Dreadful. Margaery remains a particularly appealing example of Dormer's control of tone: warmth and calculation need not cancel each other out, and she rarely makes the audience's interpretation entirely comfortable.
