Sarah Snook

Sarah Snook plays Shiv Roy in Succession. Her composure is one of the character's main defences, and Snook makes the effort behind it visible without constantly breaking it. Shiv can read somebody else's discomfort more accurately than her own position.

The Australian actor's film work includes Predestination, The Dressmaker and Steve Jobs. She has also performed The Picture of Dorian Gray on stage, taking on the production's multiple characters.

In Succession, Snook's reactions are often as important as the lines. A pause can suggest that Shiv has noticed an insult, revised an expectation or decided not to let someone see that she has been hurt. The performance gives the family arguments a personal cost beneath their polished language.
